Katie wants you to do yoga! Katie’s goal in teaching yoga is for her students to be able to accept and celebrate themselves as unique, beautiful individuals, both on and off the mat. She encourages her students to judge less and forgive more, allowing for more peaceful interactions with others and themselves. She trusts that yoga can help to heal physical, mental, and emotional wounds, leading practitioners to a greater sense of overall wellness. Katie has been performing in improvisational theater since 2004, and therefore brings a sense of playfulness, humor, and joy, to her classes. Her down-to-earth personality allows for a practice that is easily accessible to those who are new to yoga.

Katie has found her greatest passion in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, and has also explored a variety of other styles, including Astanga, Viniyoga, Restorative, and Anusara. Katie has trained with Daren Friesen at Moksha Yoga Center, where she has finished her 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certification. She completed Seane Corn’s Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training, which gave her an incredible new understanding of how to incorporate proper alignment and spirituality into a physically challenging Vinyasa flow practice. Through her extensive participation in workshops and intensives with Tias Little, Gabriel Halpern, Rich Logan, Wade Imre Morrisette, Shana Linn, and David Nathan, and her apprenticeships with senior teachers Kim Wilcox and Alie McMamus, Katie has gained anatomical knowledge, and become experienced in the art and science of sequencing and adjustments.

Katie currently subs at Moksha Yoga Center, Namaskar Yoga, and Balanced Body Integrated Wellness. She also teaches corporate yoga and private lessons. In the fall, Katie will begin teaching classes at DePaul's Ray Meyer Fitness Center.
